About Zonta International
Zonta International – building a better world for women and girls
Zonta International is a leading service organisation empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy.
Zonta was founded on the 8th November 1919 in Buffalo, New York, USA. Zonta took its name from a Sioux Indian word meaning ‘honest and trustworthy’.
Zonta International envisions a world in which women’s rights are recognised as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential.
In such a world, women have access to all resources and are represented in decision making positions on an equal basis with men.
In such a world, no woman lives in fear of violence.
There are 29,000 members of Zonta Clubs in 63 countries working together to improve the lives of women and girls.
Zonta International Foundation
Since 1923, Zonta International has provided more than 27 million US Dollars to empower women and expand their access to education, health care, economic opportunities and safe living conditions.
