Zonta International – building a better world for women and girls

Zonta International is a leading service organisation empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy.

Zonta was founded on the 8th November 1919 in Buffalo, New York, USA. Zonta took its name from a Sioux Indian word meaning ‘honest and trustworthy’. 

There are 26,000 members of Zonta Clubs in 64 countries working together to improve the lives of women and girls.

Vision

Zonta International envisions a world in which women’s rights are recognised as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential.
In such a world, women have access to all resources and are represented in decision making positions on an equal basis with men.
In such a world, no woman lives in fear of violence.

Zonta International Foundation

Since 1923, Zonta International has provided more than US$50.9 million to build a better world for women and girls and expand their access to education, economic opportunities and safe living conditions. Through donations to the Zonta Foundation for Women, Zonta improves women’s lives, their children’s lives and the communities in which they live and work. Join us in making gender equality a reality for women and girls worldwide. 100 percent of all donations to the Zonta Foundation for Women go directly to program support.
